Notes:

ADSL (Telco)

• Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line - (LAN)
• Speed: upload (160-640 kbps) , download (1-8 mbps)
• $65/mo fee, includes modem rental and ISP account
• Requires Ethernet card ($50-$100)
• Requires basic phone service ($20/mo fee) and users must live within 4 km of the telco switching station
• Imminently available

This option will likely become popular with small businesses (businesses don't usually have cable). It remains to be seen if this connectivity option will become popular in Canadian households. While telephones are nearly ubiquitous, there remains the technical limitation of a maximum 4 km distance from Telco switching stations for this service to work.
