- Boolean searches (AltaVista Advanced):
- and - narrows, e.g., breast AND cancer
- or - expands, e.g., breast OR prostate
- not - narrows, e.g., colon AND NOT rectum
- phrase - narrows, "bc cancer agency"
- include - narrows, e.g., "bc cancer" +news
- exclude - narrows, e.g., "bc cancer" -radiation +chemotherapy
- near - narrows, e.g., treatment NEAR options
- wildcard - expands, biops* (for biopsy or biopsies)
- help - click the Help section to learn more about a search engine
